Last week I was speaking with someone and told them the story of Angel & Armoni being adopted out by the state even though we wanted to have custody of them. The woman's reply was, "After all they are not your children." I was so surprise I could not comment on her statement. How would anyone else have responded?
I did not give birth to them. Was that what she meant? No, they are not my birth children, however, there is a great part of me in their blood, chemical make up, and personality. They have in essence inherited me. So they are a part of me no matter how you look at it. So I'm more of a mother to Angel & Armoni than their adoptive mother. Her chemical make up does not exist within them.
So the next time someone says why are you going through all this trouble, after all they are not your children? I will have a reply.
